HOLLYWOOD DREAM

I started dreaming about AFI back in 2013 when I was traveling by train in Siberia and a fellow DOP mentioned it. In 2014 I applied for the first time. However, my documents were never reviewed because my English test score was not high enough. I didn’t give up as I was determined to get into my dream school. In 2018 I hired a tutor, buried myself completely in English books and scored the desired grade on my fourth try. After submitting the documents I flew to LA for the interview and I got accepted!

I realized that my saving and the scholarship I received was not enough to cover the tuition. Therefore, I launched a crowdfunding campaign and made a short video asking people to contribute to it. The video was viewed more than 150.000 times on Facebook and multiple newspapers reported on the story. I went to radio shows and live television streamings, and people started recognizing me on the street. At the end of the campaign, I was awarded the €40.000 scholarship from Lithuania’s government, which was the first time such support was allocated. That was the sign that I would be able to come to AFI.
