A super short film shot over 2 nights by a team of young Lithuanian talents starring a celebrated Lithuanian writer, actor, director Galina Dauguvietytė. Even though just 3′ long this little film keeps bringing good experiences. Premiered at a major Lithuanian IFF Kino Pavasaris, it went on to be nominated as a Best Lithuanian Short at the National Film and TV Awards, and finally qualified for The Short Film Corner in the International Cannes Film Festival.

After a long time, a young 23 years old student, living and studying in the city, comes to visit his grandfather. Once he arrives to his grandfather’s house and starts performing everyday chores, mysterious things happen – oranges appear out of nowhere. Eventually, the young man realizes that it must be some kind of a riddle. Will he find the answer in his childhood years?

This short movie was cinematographer’s – Saulius Lukoševičius – graduation work at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

​Synopsis of the film:
Year 1869 – Lithuania is a part of Imperial Russia. Both Lithuanian written language and Lithuanian press are banished. But these oppressions are engaged by secret Lithuanian schools – where young people are thaught Lithuanian language and book smugglers start walking around villages and smuggling books to simple folk. Even if large part of society is still indifferent to Lithuanian national identity – book smuggler ranks are constantly growing.
Colorful life of nineteenth century Lithuanian country side, humor, adventures, dangers and hard choices… That’s only a little part of what scapegrace named Jurgis experiences when he meets book smuggler Mažvydas.

Shot 2009 05 when I was studying by Erasmus program in Bulgaria (III course, VI semester). Actually in this movie I used material which was shot in Lithuania in II course (tv episode). Format – mini dv. 35mm adapter + photo lenses.  Length 5min.19s.
